Joy to the World! The Lord Is Come

The Christmas hymn, "Joy to the World! The Lord Is Come," is good reminder of why Christmas is such a joyous time.  In this hymn, Isaac Watts celebrates the birth of Christ and Christ's reign over all creation.  He writes,

Joy to the World! The Lord is come;
Let earth receive her King;
Let ev'ry heart prepare him room,
And heav'n and nature sing,
And heav'n and nature sing,
And heav'n and heav'n and nature sing.

Joy to the earth! The Saviour reigns;
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, Repeat the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make his blessing flow
Far as the curse is found,
Far as the curse is found,
Far as, Far as the curse is found.

He rules the wold with truth and grace,
And makes the nation prove
the glories of his righteousness
And wonders of his love
And wonders of his love
And wonders, and wonders of his love.

The celebration of Christ's birth is the celebration of the birth of a king, but not just any king.  He is the King of kings and Lord of lords.  He is the Sovereign of the universe.  There is no end to his majestic glory.  His splendor knows no equal.  As believers in Christ, we have great reason to rejoice, not only at Christmas, but always.  I pray that this Christmas Christ will bring you a joy that will put your tongue to work singing his praises.
