Happy Birthday to Me

Birthday 35 turned out to be a very special one.  Not only did I get a lot of birthday greetings, I got to spend part of the day with my parents, and my brothers and their families.  We don't get the opportunity to get together much, so that was really great.  I had a tremendous dinner (thanks Delia).

I also had the opportunity to baptize two people today.  It is always awesome to see God at work, but it was a blessing to be a part of it, especially on my birthday.  This is one of the best, if not the best, birthdays I have ever had.

Happy Birthday to Me

Today I turn 34.  Yes, I know what you are thinking, I DO look incredibly young.  All kidding aside, I am grateful that God has allowed my to celebrate so many anniversaries of my birth.  This birthday will start off like all the others that I can remember--with a song.  Space Captain Zoom, from the moon, will sing me a special birthday song.  My mom played it for me every year on my birthday (I'm so old it was on a 45; several years ago they found it on a CD), until she handed the responsibilities over to Delia when we got married.  I enjoyed in my pre-teen years, hated as a teenager (though I may have secretly loved it), accepted as a young adult, and now I look forward to hearing it each year.  It is a song that was written to make a four year old feel like the most special person on the planet.  It explains why my birthday topped my childhood list of favorite holidays (followed by Halloween and Christmas. Today my favorite holidays are Easter, Christmas, and my birthday; uh, I mean, my anniversary).  Every time I hear Zoom sing, "Randy, It's your birthday (happy birthday), Singing Randy, It's your birthday (happy birthday), Happy birthday...today!", I am reminded of my parents love for me.  For today, I'm special.  Somebody even wrote a song to prove it.  I have been truly blessed in my life, and I pray that the Lord will bless you all as well.

My Birthday

The earth has completed another orbit around the sun and it's my birthday again. I reminded of how blessed I am. I never pictured my life this way, but I am very happy. God has taken my life and made it a beautiful adventure. I have a family that loves me, a beautiful wife that fills my life with joy, my daughter will be home soon, I serve a church full of wonderful people who love me, and I have lots of great friends. More than all of this I have a great high priest, Jesus, who has enabled me to stand before God in righteousness, because he willingly died for the sins of the world. He has made the great sacrifice that assures my place in God's family. I am reminded daily of my sinful nature and my constant need of a savior. Thanks to God that he saved me through Jesus. I hope all of you have as wonderful a day as I will. May you see all the blessing God pours out in your life. Have a great day.
